Movenpick is a well known ice cream chain with locations all over the world. While Switzerland is probably best known for their fondue and chocolate, Movenpick do a fine job of trying to add ice-cream to the list! In addition to dropping by countless times for a scoop of ice-cream, we’ve dined in before and ordered off their dessert menu and will shared that dine-in experience here.
To start off, because we couldn’t agree on a flavours, we ordered two milkshakes. To keep with the European flavour theme, one was Dulce de Leche flavored and the other, Crème Brûlée. Both were flavoured with a scoop of the ice-cream straight out of the freezer, and this added a nice creaminess to the shake. The shake was a little thin and I feel that it could have used more ice cream and regretted not ordering a thick shake for that heavier feel! Both were delicious thought and went nicely with the desserts that we ordered.
To have something warm alongside the shakes, we ordered two serves of the waffles. One was strawberry flavoured and came with a fresh cut strawberry and sauce, and the other was chocolate flavoured and came with chocolate shavings and sauce. In addition, each waffle set came with two scoops of ice cream each and we chose: Blueberry cheesecake, Vanilla and Brownie, Stracciatella and raspberry sorbet. The soft and creamy ice cream went perfectly with the hot and springy waffles and made for a great temperature contrast in each bite. The ice-cream flavours were also true to their descriptions and we came away full and satisfied!
One of the more memorable times that we dropped by for a quick scoop was when we had a scoop of their blueberry cheesecake ice-cream inside their matcha cone. We liked the touch of matcha flavour that came through well and complemented the sweeter ice-cream.
Overall, this is a great spot for a scoop of ice-cream and their desserts are worth a try if you have the time and love your ice-cream!
