Kepos Street Kitchen is a Middle Eastern fusion cafe situated in Redfern that does a great range of breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes, as well as drinks and cocktails. It has been such an institution on the cafe scene that we knew we had to visit it to see what the fuss was about.
For my drink I ordered the pomegranate virgin mojito. This was a delicious and refreshing drink with strong pomegranate flavour. For our mains, we ordered two dishes to share, the first dish we ordered was the Southern fried chicken burger with middle eastern coleslaw, chermoula mayo and fries with tomato sauce. This was a delicious burger, the chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and nicely complimented by the crunchy coleslaw and creamy mayo sauce.
To balance out this heavy dish, we also ordered the Tunisian style seared yellow fin tuna salad with eggplant, tomato, cucumber, egg, potato and harissa dressing. This was a delicious salad, the tuna was seared perfectly and so tender and fresh, and I loved the flavours of the eggplant and potato, while the harissa dressing brought it all together with a touch of spice.
Overall, Kepos Street Kitchen lived up to our expectations, the food was made with high quality ingredients and was full of so many exotic flavours. Would definitely recommend a visit!
