Royal Stacks, is the Melbourne born burger chain that has how expanded to Sydney. We came here on a weekend to indulge in a sneaky #cheatday lunch burger and will share that experience in this food blog.
We started off with ‘The King’, a beef patty topped with nothing less than a mac and cheese croquette in addition to all the normal burger trimmings – tomato, lettuce, cheddar, swiss as well as a tangy horseradish, shallot and gherkin mayo. As you would expect, this is one of the more decadent burgers going around. The fried croquette adds a heavenly crunchiness and the mac and cheese filling makes each bite oh-so-cheesy.
The second burger we ordered was the ‘Saint’, two patties, tomato, lettuce, bacon, cheddar, raw onion, chipotle mayo and pickled jalapenos. As you can imagine, this burger was designed for those looking for a little more kick in their burgers. I have quite a high spice tolerance so would have actually liked the spice to be a bit more intense but it was still a tasty burger. The two patties made it nice and juicy.
Because we don’t do things by halves, we also ordered a large serve of the cheese gems. These were nice and crispy and the melted cheese added a nice creaminess to the gems, but it did make the ones on the top a bit soggy after a few minutes!
Finally to top it off, we tried their frozen custard, choosing the ferrero rocher and alarmingly coloured blue choc chip cookie flavours. Both were very rich as the custards are thicker and heavier than your standard ice creams. The serve was very generous – definitely one to share!
Overall, Royal Stacks serves up some seriously good burgers that may well be fit for a member of the royal family! I am keen to come back again when the craving for a burger hits!
