Doyle and Sons is a cafe located in the main shopping strip in Spotswood, a stone’s throw away from the train station. This makes it the perfect place for a quick breakfast or coffee before work! It’s also a favourite of cyclists making their way into the city for work. I came here one weekday morning for breakfast with a friend.
The first dish we ordered was the Eggs Benedict. This was one of the most generous servings of eggs benedict that i’ve ever had! There were two large slices of sourdough – each cut from end to end of the loaf. There was then a generous serving of the pulled pork. It was well flavoured, not too sweet as the trend is in a lot of cafes lately. The eggs then sat on top with a nice tangy hollandaise.
The second dish we ordered was the ricotta and blueberry hotcake with strawberry orange salad, vanilla mascarpone, honey orange cardamom syrup and pistachio praline. This was definitely a dish for those sweet tooths! The hotcake was light and fluffy, while the trimmings were nice a sweet and balanced out the milder hotcakes.
Overall this was a nice local cafe. Definitely worth a visit if you live west of the westgate bridge! The service is friendly, the venue is bright and cheery and the food is excellent!
