The Baker’s Wife is a popular cafe that gets seriously full on weekends. It has two large rooms of tables that are always full after 10am on a weekend so arrive early if you want to get a seat. I’ve come here several times – it’s one of my go-to cafes for a quick bite with friends. In this post we’ll share two of my favourite dishes.
I must have ordered the eggsparagus dish at least half a dozen times already. It consists of truffled asparagus, two poached eggs, a house hash brown, crisp leek and hollandaise. The truffled asparagus really makes the dish – the truffle aroma really elevates the dish and makes it rich and decadent. The eggs are excellent and the yolk spills over the crispy hash brown perfectly.
The second dish I’ve ordered was the sweet variation of the crumpets. The dish is two Dr Marty’s crumpets spread with a sweet cinnamon ricotta, topped with a house made orange marmalade and topped with fresh fruit. This dish is perfect for those that are not in the mood for a savoury dish but don’t want a sickly sweet dish. The cinnamon ricotta was quite mild and balanced the sweeter and stronger marmalade.
Overall, the Baker’s Wife provides a great dining experience. It has a great local vibe and buzz. The outside area is great on a sunny day, plus, there is a tempting array of sweet treats on offer!
