Mr Burger: The burgers you know and love in Bentleigh

Mr Burger is known for serving up burgers all across Melbourne. First through their food trucks and then through their outlets. Now Mr Burger has ventured well outside the city boundaries and into Bentleigh! We came here one Saturday night to sample their menu and try a few of their burgers and will share that experience with you tonight.

To start we got one of their Oreo Shakes to pre-empt the savoury burgers and chips on the way. The shake was nice and sweet and had a nice thickness to it. The sweetness may have been a bit much on it’s on, but it went well to balance out the savoury burgers.

We ordered three burgers. The first burger was the Mr Hot which was filled with beef, bacon, cheese, onion rings, chilli mayo and jalapenos. As the name would suggest, this was a spicy burger! I liked the amount of heat on it as I love my spice, but it’s definitely not one for the faint hearted! The saltiness of the bacon worked well with the heat of the jalepenos.

Next we ordered the Mr Chicken with fried chicken, lettuce, pickle, ranch sauce and added bacon and cheese. This was a generous piece of chicken that had a nice thick batter crumb to it. The cheese wasn’t melted over the chicken like beef burgers but it was still good. The sauce on this burger was out of this world and it took me back to my childhood. I can’t quite put my finger on the flavours that it reminded me of!

The third burger we ordered was the Mr Deluxe with beef, cheese, lettuce, pickle, onions and special deluxe sauce, and we decided to add bacon just for good measure. This was a classic burger done well. The meat was tender and juicy, and the lettuce added the perfect crunch.

To go alongside this all, we ordered a side of loaded fried and opted for the Poutine option with cheese curds and gravy. These were delicious, the gravy was rich and flavourful and the cheese curds were chewy and creamy. One of the best partners to a burger!

Overall, these were some solid burgers. The ingredients are fresh and they are served up fast. If you live in the area, definitely check it out! It’s well worth a visit to see how it compares to your regular neighbourhood burger joint!
