Masala Darbar is an Indian Restaurant located in Surry Hills. It serves a range of traditional and fusion Indian food. I am not usually a huge fan of Indian cuisine because I cant handle spices but I had heard great things about this place so was keen to try it out for dinner one night!
To start the night off, we ordered the Masala platter with keema samosa, chicken tikka, and fish tikka. This is their signature entree dish and it did not disappoint. The keema samosa was stuffed with lamb and spices and was delicious however my favourite was the chicken tikka, it was perfectly marinated and the meat was so tender.
For our mains we ordered the Murg makhani- classic butter chicken cooked in a rich creamy tomato based sauce with fragrant spices and Garlic cheese naan. You can never go wrong with classic butter chicken and this was one of my favourite dishes I have tried, the sauce was so rich and creamy and the chicken was well cooked. The cheese naan was also nice and buttery and went well with the sauce.
For our second main, we ordered the Keema Masala Dosa- crispy thin crepe made with rice and lentil cooked with spiced ground lamb stuffing and served with lentil curry and chutney. This is another traditional indian dish that I enjoyed, the crepe was so thin and crispy and the lamb was nicely seasoned and went well with the sauces.
Overall, Masala Darbar is definitely my go to place for high quality and traditional Indian food, they have an extensive menu and the service was friendly and efficient.
