Sir Charles is a cafe in Fitzroy that serves a range of creative and delicious brunch dishes. They have recently changed their menu and so we thought we would pop by and try it out.
To start off we ordered the iced Chai latte and the berry’d alive smoothie with banana, mixed berries, apple, honey, mofo deluxe chocolate, apple juice. It was a hot day so the iced chai was nice and refreshing and not too sweet, while the berry smoothie tasted fresh and fruity and had a good mix of ingredients.
We then ordered three dishes to share. The first was Eton mess waffles; belgian waffle with crispy meringue, jelly tip ice cream, marshmallow and fresh berries. You cant come here without trying their signature dish and it did not disappoint. This is such a delicious and beautiful waffles dish, I loved the meringues and creaminess of the ice cream, balanced by the fresh fruit.
We then ordered the Mushroom benedict with panko crumbed eggs, truffled mushrooms and hollandaise sauce. I love any vegetarian dish if it has mushroom in it and this was no different, the truffle flavour was strong and delicious and I loved the panko crumbed eggs which was a nice change from the standard poached eggs you get in a benedict.
Lastly, we ordered the KFC burger; korean fried chicken with house made kimchi, cos lettuce and burnt chilli mayonnaise on brioche with a side of kimchi fries. I am not a huge fan of kimchi but I did enjoy the chicken, it was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Overall, Sir Charles is a great cafe in Fitzroy that does a great range of brunch and lunch food and drinks, if you ever visit, make sure to order the waffles, they were great!
