Encasa Lane Cove: A Spanish favourite opens a second store in Sydney

Encasa is a Spanish restaurant that is famous for their delicious and authentic tapas and paella. They opened a second branch in Lane Cove and we came here for dinner one night, keen to try it out as we are big fans of the Pitt Street store.

To start we ordered some special sangria. It was delicious and fruity, the perfect drink to go with the food.

To start off, we ordered the Tabla mixta, an antipasto platter with salami {40g}, Jamon Iberico {40g}, Manchego {80g} and olives with sourdough. I loved this platter, the jamon was so thinly sliced and the manchego cheese went perfectly with the crispy toasted sourdough and salty olives.

Next we tried a special, the Jamon and leek croquettes, these were so delicious and creamy and crunchy on the outside, perfect served warm.

After this we tried another special, Dates stuffed with valdeon cheese and wrapped with jamon. I am not a huge fan of blue cheese so found the cheese to be rather strong but the dates were sweet and cut through the saltiness of the jamon well.

For our main, we could not go past the Paella valenciana: saffron rice with chicken, prawns, calamari and mussels and vegetables. This is one of the best paellas I have ever tried, the rice was cooked so well and the flavours of the seafood really shone through.

For our dessert, we decided to try the Spanish crème brulee infused with lemon and cinnamon. I loved the crispy top of a creme brulee and this one was done perfectly, and the zesty hint of lemon made it stand out from a normal creme brulee.

We also tried a special, the Chocolate marquise with creme anglaise. The marquise is like a chocolate mousse, it is served cold and creamy, like an ice cream. I really enjoyed this unique dessert, it was nice and rich and went well with the light creme anglaise.

Overall, Encasa is a great Spanish restaurant, one of the best in Sydney. They have a wide range of tapas, paellas and pizzas and pastas to satisfy every palette, definitely a must try for lovers of Spanish food!

Love at First Bite dined as guests of CPM Online Marketing and Encasa. All opinions are my own.
