5 Loaves 2 Fish is an Asian fusion cafe in Neutral Bay that serves modern brunch fare with a twist. The minimalist café is beautifully designed – it features contemporary décor and its’ all white interior feels fresh and clean. We came here for brunch one weekend, keen to try it out
For our drinks we ordered the Matcha and beetroot latte and cold pressed orange juice. These were nice and creamy and not too sweet and the matcha latte had good matcha flavour while the juice was refreshing and zesty. We also ordered Cookies and cream and red velvet scrolls, these were so rich and delicious, definitely for sharing! The filling was mixed nicely with the scrolls and there was a good ratio of bread to icing.
We then tried the Open omelette with chorizo, mixed wild mushrooms, honey roasted artichokes, pickled chilli, kale, goats cheese finished with a light dusting of white truffle infused salt flake. I loved this dish, the honey roasted artichokes were amazing and the chilli gave it a nice kick while the mushrooms and chorizo added good flavour.
Next we ordered the Angus ragu with 16 hour slow cooked beef brisket ragu with creamy polenta shaved parmesan, basil and pickled chilli. This was another great dish, the beef brisket was so tender and I loved the basil which went really well with the polenta.
Overall, 5 Loaves 2 Fish is a great addition to the Neutral Bay cafe scene, its dishes are inventive and healthy and they have a good selection of drinks and baked goods too. Definitely worth a try!
