Le Monde is a cafe in Surry Hills thats serves a range of brunch and lunch dishes. They recently just launched a new menu so we came here to try some of the dishes.
For our drinks we ordered the Long Black and iced matcha latte. The latte was quite rich, and I liked that it was nice too sweet but it could have had matcha flavour that was a bit stronger.
Next we ordered the Vanilla chia pudding with almond milk, banana, papaya, pistachio and passionfruit. This was a delicious and healthy breakfast, the chia pudding was nice and creamy and the fruits were nice and refreshing, adding some natural sugar.
Next we tried the Crunchy potato rosti with smoked salmon, roasted cherry tomato, feta, spinach, poached egg, saffron hollandaise, crushed pistachio and haloumi. I loved the potato rosti, it has a slight spiciness that added some flavour and the saffron hollandaise sauce was really unique as well.
We then ordered a new menu item, the Squid ink fettuccine with prawns, cherry tomato, fennel, basil, chilli, garlic and lemon. I loved this as well, the chilli added a nice kick to the pasta which was cooked perfectly and the prawns were nice and tender.
After this we tried the Matcha hotcakes with mascarpone cream, fresh fruit, toasted grains and coconut espresso. I loved this dish the hotcakes were so fluffy and had good matcha flavour, while the fresh fruit balanced out the maple syrup.
Overall Le Monde cafe is a great place to eat in Surry Hills, the portions are generous and the prices are below what you would normally expect for a cafe, the food had great asian fusion elements and there is lots of variety on the menu. Definitely worth a visit!
Love at First Bite dined as guests of Le Monde. All opinions are my own.
