Vecino: Korean Mexican fusion in Canterbury

Vecino is a Korean Mexican fusion chicken and tacos restaurant in Canterbury. It is has one of the most unique menus I have ever seen, including a breakfast menu with typical cafe dishe as well as their signature chicken dishes and funky cocktails.

We started with two of their signature margaritas, the Corona Rita: classic frozen margarita with corona and the Cruiser Rita: watermelon frozen margarita with vodka cruiser. These were beautifully presented and served with an upside down drink inside a drink, making for an interesting experience. I loved the flavours here, the slushies are perfect for a hot day.

Next we ordered the Signature premium teriyaki and honey garlic chicken with chips and cabbage salad to share. Their chicken does not disappoint, it is so tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside, I loved the rich teriyaki sauce and the chips and cabbage add some variety to the meal.

We also tried the Wagyu beef burger with a side of chips. I loved this dish too, the burger was well cooked with the patty tender and juicy.

Finally for dessert we shared the Red velvet pancakes with french chantilly cream, fresh strawberry, caramelised banana served with condensed milk. I loved this dish, the strawberries balanced out the sweet condensed milk and the caramelised bananas added a nice crunch.

We also finished off with the Red velvet and taro lattes, which were authentic in flavour, with beautiful latte art.

Overall, Vecino is a great concept that is pulled off nicely, the food has good elements of Korean and Mexican cuisine, making for a versatile menu that has great dishes for brunch and dinner. Definitely worth a visit!

Love at First Bite dined as a guest of the establishment and / or their representatives. All opinions are my own.
