Whitewater is a restaurant by Manly Beach, offering stunning views of the water and the perfect place to have a meal during the warmer months. We came here to celebrate the beginning of spring one night, keen to try out their new spring menu and have a nice night out. We were served a range of canapes.
The entrees included the fried cauliflower In a peanut sauce with Asian nuts garnished with red onion & coriander. One of my favourites, I loved the rich peanut sauce.
Next we tried the spinach arancini Topped with a spinach & cheese sauce. I loved how rich and creamy the sauce was and the coating of the balls were nice and crunchy.
We also tried the tuna tataki, Rare thinly sliced tuna served on chopped broccolini salad tossed w. soy sesame seed dressing. The tuna here was so fresh and high quality, slightly pink on the inside.
Next was the garlic prawns, Pan-fried prawns in olive oil, tomato, & garlic. Served with toasted sourdough. I loved the garlic sauce here.
The final entree was the osso buco salad, Slow cooked shredded beef dressed in sherry vinegar, olive oil, Spanish onion & herb salad. I loved the tender shredded beef, with the vinegar dressing adding a nice sharp flavour.
The main canapes were tried were the gnocchi, with john dory, Acqua pazza cherry tomatoes & basil. I loved this, the gnocchi was so bouncy and the john dory was tender.
My favourite of the night was however the chicken and mushroom risotto, Trio mushroom & parsley finished with parmesan cheese. The sauce here was so creamy and the risotto was perfectly cooked.
The final pasta was the macaroni with Slow cooked pork, beef & lamb ragu. I loved the flavour of the meats, the slow cooked method definitely brought out the juices.
We then tried some meat canapes. The first was the slow roasted duck served on top of green stir fry veg with a duck jus. The duck here was tender and juicy, and the jus was also rich and delicious.
Next was the slow roasted porchetta served with roasted potatoes & pickles. I loved the porchetta which was nice and fatty and the potatoes were also well roasted.
Finally we finished with dessert. We tried their raspberry lychee rose sponge cake with layers of raspberry & cream, served with macerated lychees. This was amazing, I loved the lychee flavour and the fruity raspberry and cream layers perfectly complemented each other.
Next we tried the Chocolate mousse dome with a hard outer chocolate shell filled with fluffy chocolate mousse with Vanilla honey cream. Served with vanilla sauce. This was another great dessert, the chocolate was rich and nicely balanced by the creamy vanilla.
Finally there was the Caramel apple dome w. vanilla gelato & caramel sauce. I loved this too, the caramel sauce was cut through by the fresh apple and the biscuit base was amazing.
Overall, Whitewater is a great restaurant in Manly that serves a range of great dishes and drinks, perfect for a dinner out with friends and family or date night. The ambiance is lovely and the service is friendly and fast. Would definitely recommend for anyone in the area!
