Labld is a Asian fusion cafe in Marrackville that serves a range of unique breakfast and lunch dishes. I am always on the lookout for more places to try so decided to visit one weekend for brunch.
We ordered some drinks to start, the Mango lassi with yoghurt, cardamom and pistachios and Monsoon shake with black sesame, banana, coconut, honey and almond milk. I loved the Indian influences of these drinks, they were quite rich and packed full of good ingredients.
Next we tried some new dishes on their menu. The first was the Pippin; miso garlic and thyme king field and enoki mushrooms with mushy peas, sourdough, buttermilk ricotta and poached egg. This was a simple vegetarian dish that worke well, I loved the mushrooms, it was bursting with flavour and the ricotta was nice and creamy.
We then tried the Pandan pancake with caramelised banana, honeycomb creme, meringue and cherry. This was amazing, there was rich pandan flavour and the caramelised elements worked together well with the cream.
We also ordered the Birds nest with poached egg wrapped in potato spaghetti, beetroot yoghurt, fried leek, snow pea tendrils and wine infused bacon. I loved this too, the potato was nice and crunchy and the egg and bacon went well together along with the beetroot yoghurt.
Finally we tried the Polka poke bowl with wild black rice, sauerkraut, edamame, cabbage, carrot, avocado and miso sesame dressing with salmon. This was another great dish, I loved the combination of the miso sesame dressing with the edamame and salmon, it was so fresh and healthy.
Overall, Labld is a unique cafe that serves brunch with Asian influences. Their menu is mostly vegetarian and then you can choose to add meat sides to it which allows lots of flexibility and there is great outdoor and indoor seating.
Love at First Bite dined as a guest of the establishment and / or their representatives. All opinions are my own.
