Sawa: Authentic Japanese in the city

Sawa is a cosy and authentic Japanese restaurant in Darlinghurst that serves a range of dishes for lunch and dinner. I am always on the look out for new Japanese places, being a huge fan of Japanese food so decided to pay this place a visit with some friends.

We got a range of dishes to share including the Kobachi which was a sashimi mix salad with avocado, I really loved the sauce that brought it all together.

We also got the Kingfish carpaccio, this was nicely cured and the sauce had a tangy flavour I enjoyed.

Next we ordered the Chicken Karaage, which was deep fried and juicy on the inside.

We also tried the Takoyaki, which are deep fried octopus balls, I like the flavours in this.

We then ordered some Assorted sushi and sashimi including salmon, tuna, kingfish, scallop. The quality of the fish here was very high, I enjoyed the range of fresh cuts, it went perfectly with some simple soy sauce.

For our mains we enjoyed the teriyaki fish and Teriyaki chicken, the sauce here was amazing and I enjoyed the tender meat and salad on the side.

We also tried their unagi don, the eel here was seared to perfection and I loved the sauce.

Our last main was the Eggplant with crab sauce, the crab sauce was very interesting and the eggplant was tender, this was a great veggie dish.

We ended the meal with some Red bean bun and ice cream. The buns were were delicious, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a sweet red bean paste.

Overall, Sawa is a great restaurant that serves authentic Japanese cuisine. Worth a try if you are in the area!

Love at First Bite dined as a guest of the establishment and / or their representatives. All opinions are my own.
