Bang Bang Izakaya: Modern Japanese on Steam Mill Lane

Bang Bang Izakaya is a new Japanese restaurant and bar on Steam Mill Lane in Darling Square that has modern Japanese food and a funky vibe that takes you to the streets of Tokyo. I am a huge fan of Japanese food so decided to check out this restaurant for dinner one night.

We ordered their signature drink, the Harajuku fairy with grand marnier, vodka, lychee puree and fairy floss. This was delicious and refreshing and the fairy floss was a nice touch.

Next we got their Sashimi platter with salmon, tuna, kingfish, scallop, oyster, snapper and scampi. This was amazing, never before have I seen a platter that was so beautifully presented and it tasted delicious too, so fresh and high quality. You don’t often have snapper sashimi often on platters so that was a nice treat for me.

Next we got the Wagyu beef steak with charcoal sauce and broccolini. This was another great dish, the meat was cooked medium rare and was tender and marbled while the sauce was nice and rich.

We also got the Curry chicken cream gratin with karaage chicken and creamy sauce. This was good but I would have preferred less sauce and more pasta and chicken, there were only two slices of chicken.

Overall, Bang Bang is a funky restaurant with modern decor that does inventive and high quality Japanese food. The menu is extensive and the service is friendly, definitely worth checking out!

Love at First Bite dined as a guest of the establishment and / or their representatives. All opinions are my own.
