X23 Cafe is a new Malaysian fusion cafe in Chippendale, serving Malaysian style dishes in a brunch environment. I like Malaysian food as long as its not too spicy so I decided to pay it a visit and try it out.
To start we ordered the Taro and red velvet lattes, I thought they were nice and creamy and a good accompaniment to the food.
First I ordered the X23 signature red eggs with home made sambal sauce, scrambled eggs, crab, curry leaves on croissant. I loved this dish, the sambal sauce was rich and delicious and the eggs were nice and fluffy, perfect on a crisp croissant.
Next we ordered the Golden chilli crab pasta with angel hair pasta, soft shell crab with fried mini buns. This was another great dish, the sauce was rich and the buns were perfect to soak it up while the crab was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
We ended with some Pandan waffles with kaya jam, lychee, seasonal fruits and vanilla ice cream. I loved this too, the pandan flavour here was authentic and strong, nicely balanced by the fresh fruit.
Overall, X23 Cafe is a great example of a Malaysian Singaporean fusion cafe that serves creative and unique dishes with a lovely ambiance. Would recommend for everyone to try, especially if you love spicy food!
Love at First Bite dined as a guest of the establishment and / or their representatives. All opinions are my own.
