Hunter and Barrel is a restaurant in Cockle Bay Wharf in Darling Harbour that is famous for its meat dishes done by the grill and its extensive drink menu. We came here for a xmas party, keen for some good food and drink.
For entrees we tried Crispy chicken wings Buffalo-style with ranch dipping sauce, the sauce here was rich and the chicken wings were perfectly cooked.
We then ordered the Hot cheese dip with grilled flatbread, the cheese here was rich and delicious.
For our main we ordered the Kings feast with chicken thigh skewer, pork belly, roast lamb shoulder, pork ribs and eye of rump, Served with thick cut chips, chopped green salad, pickled red cabbage, grilled flatbread and capsicum salsa. I loved the variety here, the ribs were so addictive and fell off the bone with the pork belly was so fatty and melted in your mouth.
For dessert we had the Choc walnut brownie served warm with ice cream & chocolate sauce, this was very rich with the ice cream nicely balanced by the brownie which was soft and chewy.
We also shared the Apple skillet pie with orange syrup & Fior di Latte ice-cream, I really enjoyed the taste of the apple here and the pastry was perfectly baked.
Overall, Hunter and Barrel is the perfect place for hearty food with a view of the Darling Harbour. Definitely worth a try!
Love at First Bite dined as a guest of the establishment and / or their representatives. All opinions are my own.
