Mad Patties: Burgers, sides and shakes – what more do you need in life?

As the name suggest, if you’re mad about patties, then this is the place for you. Heck, even if you don’t like patties, you’re sure to find something to enjoy, whether it’s the crispy potato rings or decadent shakes. We came here one Sunday lunch, prepared for a big decadent meal and weren’t disappointed! We’ll share that experience with you today.

Let’s start with the burgers. The first burger we ordered was the ‘Mad Scheme’. Nestled inside a brioche burger bun was: a beef patty, a panko crumbed chicken fillet, 2x cheese for good measure, pickles, jalapenos and sweet mayo. In case you couldn’t tell from the description, this was not a burger for the faint hearted! The double meat worked really well. I loved how crispiness of the chicken that contrasted well with the meatiness of the patty, and the heat from the jalapenos cut through perfectly.

The second burger that we ordered was the ‘My Bud Spud’ which came with a rosemary infused potato patty topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, tomato relish and sriracha mayo. For good measure we added a beef patty on top…. you know… protein. This was a great burger. To be honest it almost didn’t need the extra patty! The potato patty was full of flavour from the rosemary and the heat from the jalapenos and sriracha mayo also cut through well.

To go along with our burgers we ordered two sides. The first was sweet potato fries. Theses were decent. They could have been a little more crispy but were still good. I love that slight sweetness from sweet potato chips! They were great dipped in a ketchup/mustard combo! The second side we ordered was the onion rings. These were also excellent. They were super duper crispy. I bet they would have gone great inside the burger, but I only thought of doing that after the burger was long gone! To wash down the savoury burger, we couldn’t go past their selection of shakes. The first shake we got was the Salty Peanut Butter. I’m a hugeeee fan of peanut butter so couldn’t go past this. The ingredient were simple; peanut butter, salted caramel, ice cream, milk. It may have been simple but it was delicious! There was a good scoop of peanut butter inside to make sure it was nice and peanutty! The second shake we ordered was the Matcha Green Tea: Pure matcha powder, ice cream, milk. This was also excellent. The slight bitterness of the matcha balanced out the sweetness of the ice cream really well and this is a great option for those that don’t like super sweet shakes – or, you know, if you just like Matcha!

Overall, Mad Patties has me mad for some more of their food and drinks! They have a pretty extensive burger menu so i’m really keen to come back sometime and try out the rest of their menu, especially their barramundi and prawn patty burger! It is a bit of a trek from the city, but if you live in the area, walk, don’t run!
