Rice Paper Scissors: Authentic South East Asian fusion cuisine

Rice Paper Scissors is a South East Asian restaurant in the Melbourne CBD that is modelled on the hawker dining bars of South East Asia with a shared-eating concept. They aim to serve the freshest ingredients, sourced organically and ethically where possible and all their sauces, patés and relishes are made in-house. The place is always bustling and it is nigh impossible to get a seat on a weekend if you do not turn up early enough.

We decided to have a pre dinner snack before moving onto dinner with friends and ordered two dishes. The first dish was their BBQ lamb ribs; Mekong whiskey marinated lamb ribs in a special sticky sauce. This was such an addictive and delicious dish, the lamb ribs were marinated so well and cooked to perfection.

The second dish we got was the sticky pork belly; twice cooked pork belly in tamarind caramel sauce topped with a fragrant herb salad. This was another great dish, the pork belly was so tender and melted in your mouth, though the herb salad was rather strong and I did not enjoy that part.

Overall, Rice Paper Scissors is a great casual restaurant that does a range of sharing dishes in a bustling atmosphere, would definitely come back and try their other dishes!
